An ongoing series looking at countries that, for a variety of reasons, do not actually exist. Some, like Transnistria and Gagauzia are disputed territories, while some, such as The Isle Of Man and Gibraltar are 'dependencies'. Then there are those like Kurdistan, which are ethnic homelands within other countries and others, such as Užupis and Christiania which are micronations declared (often for artistic reasons) as separate from their motherlands.
